I agree with you. Absolutely, I think the same of you, Disney have been the most influent entertainment company in the world. I saw a lot of Disney films, Toy Story, The Lion King, Seven Dwarfs, etc. and also Mickey Mouse, Goofy.
Answering your questions, the first question, I think that ten or twenty years ago, this question have a concrete answer: Yes. But nowadays, I have some doubts.
