The main facts about the activities of the company.

Socialab is a movement of social transformation, led by the social innovation expert Julián Ugarte, that promotes innovative and sustainable solutions to the great problems of humanity associated with poverty and inequality solutions. This movement is composed of people who are committed to the collective intelligence, collaboration and a big dream: a better world.

Socialab seeks to achieve a more equitable from the development of a new economy where the creation of inclusive business models with social impact society fosters designed through co-creation and networking with other actors in society. Through an open innovation platform, social enterprises that aim to contribute to overcoming poverty and improving the quality of life of people are detected. It has ongoing support from co-founding institutions such as the Multilateral Investment Fund (MIF) of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and Movistar Chile.

Their main goal is to find solutions to major problems affecting the most vulnerable people with fewer opportunities in Chile and also the rest of the world.

Socialab detects and empowers people willing to change the world by developing ideas capable to make it a better place. Their mission is to attract these potential world-changing business ideas in order to co-create, fund and accelerate them. Treating social injustice as a business is their way to have as much positive impact as possible for society while generating benefits.

There are many projects incubated by Socialab already helping lots of people in South-America, such as drinkable water transportation to poor areas, a financial institution working as a social network where low interest loans are avalaible for everyone, provide underprivileged neighborhoods with low-cost internet... And we hope they are just getting started and they have many more to come.

What makes you believe this company is really ethical and why you trust it?

This is a clear example of willingness to help becoming a job. Julian Ugarte and Socialab staff knew that a lot of people would enjoy making the world a better place instead of sitting in a desk trying to maximize profits for a company that doesn’t care about their dreams and visions.

This company encourages everyone to think on how to respond to important social problems questions and they do it with a passion. They believe our mindset is changing and we may want something beyond stability and good salaries. So they try to facilitate things for whoever (they call them Rockstars) that wants to join them and have a successful adventure solving poverty/inequity issues and providing less advantaged population with high impact solutions.

The possible challenges facing the company in the future and how you think this company may improve.

Socialab needs to grow and spread the word beyond South America. We consider that initiatives like these would have good acceptance in a large number of countries. Hopefully, many new "Rockstars" can feel inspired and motivated to follow their example.
