Responsabilidad Corporativa

  • Commercial Myth Of ZARA Undone In My Mind 4 October 2012 at 15:08 , by SAMMI TONG

At the beginning, I was impressed by ZARA for its garments being on hangers quickly, decent price and its fashion with trends. But its negative examples were found one after another these years, and then I changed my view on ZARA and even began to despise it.

First, its goods were found to have inferior quality. In fact, ZARA has been on the black list of the quality inspection report for 7 times in recent 2 years. What is worse for its brand image is that the managers of ZARA refused to apologize for its inferior quality. That made a lot of consumers’ dissatisfaction and accusing. I have to say that it does not take the corporate social responsibility, and it does not respect Chinese laws and consumers.

Second, we can find “AMANI” or “PRADA” easily in ZARA stores. I learned an open secret about ZARA from one of my friend, who is a lawyer responsible for commercial dispute. Every year in Europe, ZARA has to pay a lot of fine to those top brands for the designs’ plagiarism. If it were a ethical company, it would not do like that.

The last, it is reported that workers had to work for 14 hours each day and 7 days of a week in a sweatshop of ZARA in Brazil. I do not know if the sweatshop has been closed or not, but the news shocked me and made me doubt on its commercial ethics.

In a word, in my opinion ZARA is unethical in many aspects, and I do not want to work in a company like it. Besides, it does not take social responsibility and has lost many consumers’ trust. It does not inspire me at all.

I’m agree with you Zara is a company studied in many universities, at first it could seem really inspiring, but there’s also a black shadow behind that bright. I don’t know exactly what they do in their production performance and ok a huge international company like zara cannot control everything like all the others international and big companies, but I thing they can do it better than they are actually doing. For example for their workers, if you have a permanent worker contract on a store, for sure it’s difficult to lose your job, but the company doesn’t do too much for you except a discount on your purchases. The people on stores they are maybe on the low side of the pyramid, but without them there are no sales, so why doesn’t zara work on motivation, or trainnig their employees??, it’s a huge company with lots of benefits every year, so a good investment on their employees it could also be a good thing that they can improve. So inside human resources department they really have to think something about motivation or trainnig methods because they doesn’t exist.
